Teachers and students must wear masks when classes resume next Tuesday.

This is because of an increase in cases of COVID-19.

Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Dr Anjeela Jokhan said the schools were reminded to reinforce the coronavirus safety protocols.

In a circular sent to all schools, Dr Jokhan said it was the responsibility of heads of schools to ensure this was followed at all times.

“Keeping in mind that coronavirus is still present in the community, the schools are reminded to reinforce the coronavirus safety protocols,” she said.

“If required, the head of schools must organise a refresher session for teachers and students to make sure everyone is briefed on coronavirus safety protocols.

“Heads are to ensure the school is kept clean, which includes classrooms, compound, wash areas and the general appearance of the school.”

She said heads of schools were to ensure there was enough supplies of personal protective equipment in stock and readily available for usage.
