Teachers To Go To Work On Monday

The Ministry for Educa­tion, Heritage and Arts has advised all heads of schools, teachers and ancil­lary staff who are fully vacci­nated to return to work from Monday, 20 September 2021.

They will assist the Ministry of Health and Medical Servic­es in the School Vaccination Programme.

As per the announcement made by the Prime Minis­ter Voreqe Bainimarama on Thursday night, Viti Levu con­tainment borders have been lifted.

Teachers should now be able to travel to their respective schools.

Public transport is now fully operational, so all fully vac­cinated teachers are required to report to work. Teachers should resume duties and pre­pare for school reopening.

A circular has been released to Heads of Schools detailing these arrangements.

We are grateful to our teach­ers who are assisting the MOHMS in data verification and other national duties.

We encourage them to con­tinue with this work.

The Ministry of Education will be working with the Min­istry of Health and Medical Services and from Monday next week.

The Student Vaccination Pro­gramme will be rolled out in all four divisions. School Vac­cination Clusters have been formed to facilitate vaccina­tion of eligible children aged between 15 to 17 years with the Moderna vaccine.

The ministry encourages par­ents and guardians to register their children online prior to the vaccination.

Parents and guardians will have to provide consent before vaccination as no student will get vaccinated without parent or guardian consent.

As of 3rd June 2021, WHO has evaluated that the vaccines of­fered in Fiji have met the nec­essary criteria for safety and efficacy. Also, vaccines have saved millions of lives over the years.

Minister for Education Pre­mila Kumar, says, “I strongly advise parents to get their chil­dren vaccinated as vaccines provide a high degree of pro­tection to our children from getting seriously ill from this deadly virus.”
