Cane growers can expect some delays in receiving their latest cane payments due to technical and operational challenges, the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) confirmed yesterday.

Chief executive officer Raj Sharma said the Fund had worked closely with its bankers, HFC, to ensure payments were completed and disbursed as soon as possible.

“We are in close coordination with our bankers, HFC, to ensure payments are finalized and disbursed without further delay,” Mr Sharma said.

“However, transfers to other banks may take additional time. We strongly recommend growers check their accounts on Thursday, 16th October 2025.”

Despite the delay, SCGF confirmed that all cane payments amounting to $5.416 million have been successfully processed. Of this, only $0.321 million was deducted, meaning no deductions were made from growers’ accounts except for those in arrears.

Growers who wish to make voluntary repayments are encouraged to deposit funds at any SCGF District Office. Outstanding balances remain subject to interest, and timely repayments are advised.

SCGF also reminded growers that for Priority Loans and the Cane Development Revolving Fund, there may be no automatic deductions by the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC).

Growers in default or with existing arrangements are urged to contact their nearest SCGF office or make direct payments.

Mr Sharma thanked growers for their patience, saying: “Our Technology and Finance teams have worked diligently to ensure completion.”

SCGF has apologised for any inconvenience caused and encouraged growers to reach out to their nearest district office, visit the official website, or follow the Fund’s Facebook page for updates.
