Teleni, A Loyal Son Of Fiji: PM

Hundreds flocked the Centenary Church in Suva yesterday to bid their final farewell to the late Ambassador. Mr Seruiratu said Mr Teleni’s dedication to his appointments was best seen that even in the midst of the sickness that befell him in the last three years of his life, he continued to be steadfast to his calling.

The late Roving Ambassador to the Pacific, Esala Teleni, will be remembered for his tireless dedication and commitment to the duties that he served in for Fiji.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, in his eulogy, described Mr Teleni as a strong and wise man who proved himself as a proud and loyal son of Fiji.

Mr Bainimarama said the late ambassador proved strong and wise enough to stand on the side of a united Fiji.

He also said that Mr Teleni helped pave the way towards the common and equal citizenry shared by the Fijian people today.

The Minister for Defence and National Security, Inia Seruiratu, said Mr Teleni demonstrated a good work ethic and inspired those who worked around him to do better.

“He served his calling with humility and loyalty until he was called to glory,” Mr Seruiratu said.

“He was indeed a true and faithful servant.”

Mr Teleni’s only son, Josefa Teleni, described his father as a champion of faith.

“He had always reminded me not to forget the God of my Father,” an emotional Mr Teleni said.

“It was because of Dad’s strong faith that my mum, Rebecca and I are blessed today,” he added.

“Ta loved everyone unconditionally, he was selfless and full of compassion, we will always remember him for that.”
