Tension High Over Alleged Murder Case In Nadi

Isei Tamanikalou alleged to have caused the death of 22-year-old Ratu Mara Batina appeared at the Nadi Magistrate Court on Monday afternoon. He is charged with one count of murder.

On June 30 at  Prince Charles Park, Tamanikalou and the deceased were part of a drinking group which broke into a fight resulting in the alleged incident.

Ratu Mara was later found lying unconscious with visible injuries.

Family and friends of deceased crowded at the Court intending to threaten Tamanikalou.

Waisiki Batina (father of the deceased) confronted the accused and threatened to kill him.

Police prosecutor Inspector Parmesh Chand had objected to bail as the tension was high from the deceased’s family.

The accused was also advised that his Defence Lawyer, Jeremaia Mudunivalu will make a submission for his bail application.

The case will be called on July 19 at the Lautoka High Court for mention.
