Viniana Druguta could not contain her emotions as the Federated Airline Staff Association and the ATS Board signed a MoU yesterday ensuring 265 Air Terminal Services workers return to work in stages from next week.

Ms Druguta and her husband were part of the mass termination of ATS staff in June 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was confidential secretary to the manager finance.

She was overjoyed with the news of returning to work soon.

“For three years my husband and I were at home and it was a difficult time for us as a family,” Ms Druguta said.

Another worker Aliveta Camaibulu said she was grateful to the Government of the day for ensuring they return to work.

She was an airline chef at the ATS.

Ms Camaibulu became a market vendor after she was terminated in 2020.

“I have been working for ATS for 14 years before being terminated in 2020 and I was part of the second batch that came out.

“We had planted some root crops before the pandemic and this was where we started with our business selling root crops and vegetables at the Namaka Market.”

She was excited about going back to work.
