It was a test of faith for 64 Hindu devotees as they walked on hot embers during an annual firewalking ceremony at the Sangam Temple in Suva yesterday.
It marked the culmination of 10 days of prayers and abstinence from certain things.
Hundreds of people, including some members of the diplomatic corp and expatriates, were present at the temple on Howell Road to witness the event.

Mr Swamy said the youngest devotee was a six-year-old boy and the oldest would have been about 60 years old.
Prior to that, the devotees went to the foreshore for their bath and other prayers before they walked to the temple.
The slight rain experienced in the capital city did not deter the devotees and their family members from taking the long walk to the temple.
