There Are Issues Scarier Than Coronavirus: Goswami

International Society for Krishna Consciousness member of the Devotee Care Committee, Bir Krishna Goswami believes that people have exaggerated the effect of coronavirus.

Mr Goswami, who is in the country as part of his bi-annual visits to the members, said: “People get scared and talk a lot about coronavirus, but really what I tell them it is up to God what happens. There is something far more dangerous than coronavirus.

“I think people really overestimated the dangers of coronavirus, but there are other things like smoking whereby it kills second-hand smokers by 800,000 to 900,000 people a year around the world. That’s like a lot about smokers.

“First-hand smokers probably have 10 to 20 million people die each year but nobody is going to stop smoking. I’m not going to try to get them to stop but they know they should stop.”

Mr Goswami said we had to ultimately face our own mortality.

“We teach people that the soul is eternal so when we go, we don’t die. We go onto another lifeline and so we teach incarnation.”

He urged members to centre their lives on God.

“Please chant God so whatever God you follow, just want people to be centred to God and follow the laws of God. Then all these diseases and viruses and problems in the world will actually be diminished greatly because all the problems are due to God ultimately whether you are talking about global warming to viruses. We want people to centre their life to God.”

Mr Goswami has been coming to Fiji since 1999. This time he will visit Lautoka, Sigatoka, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Labasa, Savusavu and Taveuni.
