“It is indeed painful to see that he is gone but like all of you I take immense comfort in the fact that his contributions, his legacy to Fiji and beyond will live on forever,” Mr Karthigeyan said.

Jaoji Koroi, the chief executive officer of Fijian Holdings Limited Group, commended Mr Patel’s selfless life and compassion.

Despite opportunities for a more comfortable life abroad, the late Mr Patel chose to remain in Ba, exemplifying humility and commitment to humanity beyond his business pursuits.

Daksesh Kirtita, Mr Patel’s son, shared intimate memories of his father’s down-to-earth nature and unpretentious leadership style.

Mr Kirtita emphasised the father’s sacrifices for others’ happiness and the countless lives he touched in Fiji and abroad.

In a profound statement, Mr Kirtita expressed gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love from the community.

While acknowledging that his father is no longer physically present, he confidently declared that his father’s legacy will endure, leaving an unmatched impact on Fiji and beyond.

“He lived for others and the fact that so many have turned up here is testament to the love people had for him,” Mr Kirtita said.

“I’m honoured to call him my father.”
