Three New Typhoid Cases In The North

The Ministry of Health is also working with the Ministry of Education in inspecting the ablution facilities of schools to prevent the further spread of LTDD.

There are three new cases of typhoid in the Northern Division.

This was confirmed by Major Hiani Ieli from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces while briefing the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote at Naulumatua House yesterday.

President Konrote was updated on the progress of rehabilitation and recovery work on his first tour to the Northern Division after Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

There are 11 cases in Macuata, two cases in Cakaudrove and nil in Bua and Taveuni, making a total of 13 cases of typhoid. The three new cases of typhoid are from Macuata.

Major Ieli said that they were working together with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in continuing surveillance, clinical assessment, community awareness, water filtration, contact tracing, restriction of movement.

The Ministry of Health is also working with the Ministry of Education in inspecting the ablution facilities of schools to prevent the further spread of LTDD.

Meanwhile, the civil servants will be leading a clean-up campaign this weekend.
