Three road deaths from three separate road accidents in one day have been recorded by the Fiji Police Force, as families across the country continue to celebrate the festive season.

Police said that in one road accident, a 65-year-old woman of Korociriciri Road, Nausori was hit by a vehicle while sitting on the roadside waiting for the bus early yesterday morning.

She was conveyed to Nausori Health Center and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver is in Police custody.

In another road accident, Police said a man died on the spot after the vehicle he was driving went off road along the Queens Road, Yarawa Stretch near the slope towards Talanua Serua.

"The incident occurred around 2.30pm and the man is believed to be intoxicated," Police said in a media statement.

The third road accident involved a 34-year-old man who has passed away yesterday from injuries he sustained from an accident on Boxing day.

He was travelling in a vehicle along Waicoka Road towards Nausori.

"The driver failed to negotiate the bend and the vehicle went off road and landed on the mud pool.

"The driver fled the scene and the victim was treated at Nausori Health Center before being transferred to CWM Hospital.

"He later passed away last night."
