Rich or poor, the love of a mother for her family overflows with wrath and care.

This is a testament of 33 year – old Asinate Mekevakatoga who has been a market vendor at the Suva Market since she was 18 years – old.

Although she is not their biological mother, Mrs Mekevakatoga has cared for the two kids Kesaia Maca and Mosese Cevarua since Year 1.

The 11 year – old Kesaia Maca is now in Year 7 while 10 year – old Mosese Cevarua is in Year 5

Mrs Mekevakatoga said as a mother, she would teach the kids about being independent.

“For me as a vendor, I like to bring my children with me to the market so I can teach them about the values of life of being independent, how to support yourself and succeed in life because not everyone can become a lawyer, teacher. They can be something more than that, so that is something that I always teach these kids,” Mrs Mekevakatoga said.
