Tikoduadua backs RFMF Commander as term nears end

Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua says he is satisfied with the performance of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander, Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, as the commander’s term nears completion.  

Major-General Kalouniwai was appointed as commander in 2021.  

“He is doing a great job. He has my support in that regard. Continuity is important,” Mr Tikoduadua said to this masthead yesterday.  

The commander’s term comes to an end later this year.  He can reapply for the position, if he wishes.   

The President appoints the Commander of the RFMF on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission, headed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
