Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, has reminded police officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
This follows a recent incident where a police officer allegedly caught dealing drugs at Labasa Market, caught on CCTV footage.
Speaking about the incident, Minister Tikoduadua emphasised the importance of integrity within the police force.

“Fiji needs Police officers who are committed to upholding the law,” Mr Tikoduadua said.
“There is one way to be professional, and that is to follow the law, enforce the law, and report any wrongdoing,” he said.
He reminded officers that they are not above the law.
“Police officers are not the law. No one is above the law because the law is the law,” he said.
The Minister highlighted that police officers are accountable to the public and that incidents like this undermine the trust that members of the community place in law enforcement.
“Such actions do not help in re-building public trust in the police force. Trust is earned, and it is crucial for the integrity of our institutions,” he said.
“Officers must understand that members of the public do not expect them (Police) to be involved in illegal activities, especially drugs.
“Investigation must take its course and members of the public need to respect the legal process.
“While the officer is under investigation, it’s vital that we all respect the legal process so that justice prevails.”
