Tilak High School Triumphs at Math Contest

Tilak High School has been crowned the 2024 National Team Mathematics Competi­tion (TMC) Champions.

Held at LDS College in Suva, the competition brought together stu­dents from various schools across the country to showcase their mathematical skills.

The winning team was led by Shaeez Khan, with support from Maths teacher Ana Vatubula.

"This victory is the result of the hard work and dedication of our teachers and students," said assis­tant principal.

Their commitment paid off as the Year 11 and Year 13 teams secured first place, while the Year 12 team took second place.

Earlier in the year, during Week 10 of Term 2, Team Tilak emerged as the zonal runner-up in a competi­tion held at SVC.

This earlier performance laid the groundwork for their ultimate vic­tory at the national level.

Change in mindset

"One thing that needs to change in schools is the mentality towards maths. Maths is a great motivator- ­it starts from zero and never ends," Mr Narayan said.

Tilak High School's success in this year's competition is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Mathematics and Physics de­partment teachers, who tirelessly trained the students.

Their efforts brought pride to the school and inspired younger stu­dents to pursue excellence in math­ematics.

The team beamed with pride as they held their trophies, symbols of their hard-earned success and reflections of Tilak High School's continued dominance in academic competitions.
