A tentative timeframe has been confirmed for the completion of the Lautoka swimming pool.

Lautoka City Council (LCC) chief executive officer Mohammed Anees Khan gave the assurance in response to questions regarding the $4.6million allocation in the 2023-2024 National Budget.

“We are looking at 10 to 11 months because a good amount of work must be tendered out, especially procurement of items from overseas,” he said.

“We need to scope, tender, advertise, evaluate, and award then we have to incorporate the shipping timing delivery and installation.”

Amenities yet to be completed are the changing rooms, storage room, medical facility, security cycle lighting and pool lighting.

The facility was planned to be of international standard to include an Olympic pool with a size of (50m x 25m), warm-up pool (25m x 20m) and children’s pool (26m x 18m).
