Tomuka residents fearful after daylight stabbing

Residents of Tomuka, Lautoka, are shaken and fearful after a violent stabbing took place in broad daylight.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon where an Indo-Fijian man was allegedly stabbed by another after a heated argument.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, explained that the argument started in the suspect’s home.

“It began in their home, and then the victim ran to the road, followed by the homeowner, who stabbed him multiple times,” the neighbour said.
“The victim then ran to a house on the opposite side of the road, where he received help and was transported to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.”
The neighbour also mentioned that the incident started in the home of an iTaukei woman, who was in a defacto relationship with the suspect. The victim had visited their home, only to face this tragic fate.
This publication understands that the woman was called in for an interview at the police station and later released.
The accused has previous convictions.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed, “The suspect is in police custody, and investigation is underway.”
