Top Cadet Wants To Be A Rural Millionaire

The recipient of the Baton of Honour at Montfort Boys Town, Ratu Samuela Bolakuruvaki, wants to become a rural millionaire in the future.

Ratu Samuela made the comment after the institute’s passing-out parade yesterday in Veisari at the school ground.

He was one of the 131 students from Montfort Boys Town who successfully completed their cadet training programme.

To achieve this dream, Ratu Samuela plans to start his own business after graduating from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition institute (APTC), with a certificate in engineering that is focused on diesel fitting.

Commenting on their two-day survival training test at Namosi, Ratu Samuela said it was tough.

“For two days we had to find our own food. We ate rourou (dalo leaves) with lolo and wild yams.”

He said having faith in each other in times of trouble helped them pass the test.

The Montfort cadets shall act as reserves during a national emergency crisis.

The passing-out parade was held in the presence of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Deputy Commander, Brigadier-General Mohammed Aziz, guests, parents and guardians.

The parade was held at the school ground in Veisari.

Ratu Samuela’s father, Ratu Aca, was caught by surprised when his son was awarded the Baton. He said: “I’m really proud of him.”
