Dedication and sacrifice paid off for Aanvi Prasad who is one of the highest scorers in the 2024 Fiji Eighth Year Examination.

The Year 8 student of Lautoka Central Primary School scored 491 marks out of 500. She said the sacrifices, commitment and hard work throughout the year had paid off.

“It was my dream to be the highest scorer, and I sacrificed for it,” she said.

“I worked towards my goal by setting timetables and was committed to my schoolwork. With the sacrifices that I made throughout the year, I always tell my parents that I wanted to be a highscorer and to get the first place in all my exams. I am happy that I achieved it.”

The 13-year-old head girl said her competitors were a challenge.

“They always said it was impossible to achieve the highest mark in the final examination. Sometimes it made me to lose hope, but I am thankful to my parents and teachers for encouraging me that anything is possible.”

Her father, Ronil Prasad said her eldest daughter had made them proud.

“I am a proud dad. It was a great investment that we as parents made in our daughter’s education. We have seen the fruit of it. It is a different feeling as a parent to experience such an achievement from our children,” he said.

Aanvi plans to attend Natabua High School next year.

Viola Ravutubananitu of Tagitagi Sangam School in Ba also scored 491 marks.
