Toxic free. That’s how new Permanent Secretary for Justice Selina Kuruleca describes her new workplace at the Ministry of Justice.
Last month, Ms Kuruleca was reassigned from the Ministry of Education to her new post.
The masthead understands that the directive came from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Ms Kuruleca’s reassignment last month came as no surprise, given the widely reported alleged leadership differences between the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, and Ms Kuruleca at Senikau House.
On July 11, Mr Radrodro publicly declared his disapproval towards Ms Kuruleca being appointed to PS Education.
The Public Service Commission appointed Ms Kuruleca in May.
Speaking at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions’ Annual Prosecution Conference in Sigatoka yesterday, Ms Kuruleca addressed the attendees with an unfiltered statement.
“When the invitation came to me, I was the Permanent Secretary with the Ministry of Education. I have since switched and have been in this role as PS for about three weeks. It’s been really good, it’s been toxic-free.”
Ms Kuruleca’s appointment as PS Education attracted criticisms, not just from Mr Radrodro, but also the Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) and the Fiji Teachers Union (FTU).
They cited that the psychotherapist lacked the experience and institutional knowledge required to lead at the Ministry of Education level.
At the end of July, after weeks of turbulent stances, Mr Radrodro issued a statement outlining that the ministry respected Mr Rabuka’s decision, which endorsed Ms Kuruleca as PS Education.
