Trafficking Matter Accused’s Case Moved To High Court

Justin Ho was charged with one count of unlawful importation and exportation and one count of unlawful possession, manufacture, cultivation and supply contrary to Section 5(b) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.

A suspect in an alleged drug trafficking matter has been remanded in custody by Magistrate Nirosha Kannangara until further hearing.

Justin Ho appeared at the Nadi Magistrate Court yesterday and was charged with one count of unlawful importation and exportation and one count of unlawful possession, manufacture, cultivation and supply contrary to Section 5(b) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.

The accused is alleged to have, without lawful authority, facilitated exporting two parcels weighing to the total of 2015.7 grams of cocaine and illicit drugs on December 23, 2018, at Nadi in the Western Division.

Ho’s lawyer made a submission for bail, but the prosecution objected stating that the matter was of public interest. The court said there was a pending case for the same accused charged by FICAC.

Bail has been refused and the matter and been transferred to the High Court.

Ho’s lawyer was told to make a formal application to the High Court for bail.

Ho has been remanded for 10 days and will reappear at the High Court in Lautoka on the 17th of this month.
