Tragedy Strikes As Friends Plan Diving For Freshwater Mussels

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed that the body of the 23-year-old man also was reported missing on Wednesday has been found near Tawakelevu, Lokia, Rewa this morning.
The joint search effort was initiated on Wednesday by Police and the community for Tomasi Tuberi, who went missing while swimming across a river near Koronivia.
The 23-year old was with his two friends from Lokia Village as they initially planned to dive for freshwater mussels.
Related stories
Before the incident, Iosefo Baravilala (Tomasi’s friend) said after breakfast they walked up the river bank, rested for a while then decided to swim across to the other side before encountering strong currents.
