Training For Women In Leadership Continues In The North

The Soqosoqo Vakamarama iTaukei Cakaudrove (SVTC) women’s group continues to spearhead the rising number of women taking leadership roles within the province.
Recently, the group held its first organisational strengthening and leadership training for women leaders from nine villagers in the Nasavusavu District of Cakaudrove.
Last Friday, another round of training was held for women from the districts of Natewa and Naweni.

Group president Adi Salaseini Kavu Fong felt proud to share that there was an abundant number of good female leaders and community mobilisers in various rural settings within the province.
She said 12 women held traditional leadership positions (Yavusa and Mataqali) within the province and this was a motivation to others that women have the qualities of governance and leadership.
“Women are equal companions and helpers of men, and they should also be given equal leadership straits,” she said
