Trial Ready For Bainimarama, Qiliho

Defence lawyers rep­resenting former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended Commissioner of Police Brigadier-Gen­eral Sitiveni Qiliho are ready to proceed with the trial.

Bainimarama and Qiliho are facing charges related to the termination of a po­lice investigation concern­ing the University of the South Pacific in July 2019.

They appeared before Magistrate Seini Puamau in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Puamau asked the parties if any prelimi­nary applications would be filed in relation to the issue or public service.

Defence lawyer Gul Fati­ma of R Patel Lawyers said the defence would proceed with trial and would not be filing any preliminary ap­plications.
