Tribunal Hearing for Pryde Starts Aug 19

The tribunal hearing for the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Christopher Pryde will take at least two weeks.
The hearing is scheduled from August 19-30.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Chair and Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo confirmed that Mr Pryde has been put on notice.

“The tribunal has already begun its work from February 2024 and had several pre-hearing meetings with the DPPs counsel,” Mr Temo said.
“The tribunal report will be forwarded to His Excellency the President on or before September 24, 2024.”
The JSC has also referred a further complaint against Mr Pryde.
This complaint claimed that Mr Pryde recieved unlawful payment of benefits under his contract, which was approximately $288,999.13.
The DPP is appointed under section 117(30) of the Constitution by the President on the recommendation of the JSC after consultation with the Attorney-General Graham Leung.
Mr Pryde was suspended last April over alleged misbehaviour after a meeting with former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
That suspension was in accordance with Chapter 5, Part A, Section 112 (4) of the Constitution.
