Tropical Cyclone Fili Forms To The Northwest Of New Caledonia

Tropical Depression 10F (TD10F) has upgraded into a category 1 system and named Tropical Cyclone Fili at midday today while located to the northwest of New Caledonia. TC Fili is currently moving west at about 10 kilometres per hour and intensifying.

Tropical Depression 10F (TD10F) has upgraded into a category 1 system and named Tropical Cyclone Fili at midday today while located to the northwest of New Caledonia.

TC Fili is currently moving west at about 10 kilometres per hour and intensifying.

TC Fili is expected to intensify further into a category 2 system while tracking close to New Caledonia, potentially bringing destructive storm force winds and heavy rainfall over New Caledonia from as early as midnight tonight.

The tropical cyclone poses no direct threat to the Fiji group.

The Fiji Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this weather event and update warnings and forecasts accordingly.
