Troubador Garments Ltd donated 33 cartons of clothing to the Rotary Club of Lautoka that will go towards families in Vanua Levu that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Company general manager Dinesh Jamnadas handed over the items to club president Crystal Bouchard yesterday.

Troubador Garments Ltd has been in operation since 1982.

Mr Jamnadas said the clothing items consisted of about 600 pieces of T-shirts, baby clothes, shorts, undergarments, track pants and warm clothing.

“After reading the papers, I wasn’t feeling good about what the people were going through and even I cannot imagine myself to be in that position,” he said.

The clothing items were estimated to be worth $5000.

Ms Bouchard said the Club had connections to their Rotary Club in Labasa and Savusavu who were on the ground and were in contact with the affected communities and families.

“We will work with them in getting these items to the communities and families who need them,” she said.

“Some people along the main highway have received the most so we will network with our team to go into the rural areas to deliver the rest of the items.”

She said there would be some Rotarians as well who would be assisting in rebuilding damaged houses.
