Truck Driver Remanded
Accused Rodrick Chand informed the court that he was assaulted by inmates of the Nakasi Police Station who had also threatened him that he would be further assaulted if he was further remanded.

Rodrick Chand, 33, charged with the alleged murder of a 16-year-old in Nakasi last week has been remanded in custody by the Nasinu Magistrates Court.
The truck driver appeared before Magistrates Charles Ratakele at the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday morning.
He is charged with one count of murder.

Accused counsel, Matthew Young of Jiten Reddy Lawyers told the court that his client has been incorrectly charged.
Mr Young informed the court that there was no intent of murder by his client and that he should be charged with dangerous driving causing death.

Prosecution has objected to bail stating that the matter was of public interest.
It is alleged that the accused while reversing his truck hit the victim who was seated along the common driveway on Thursday morning, December 16.
The victim was found in a pool of blood.
The case had been adjourned to Wednesday, December 22 for bail ruling.
