More time has been given for students to apply for assistance from the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS).

The closing date has been extended to February 9 for students to complete their online applications.

So far, 8383 scholarship application accounts have been created. Of which 4430 were completed and submitted against the eligibility criteria of the relevant scheme and the quota, where applicable.

About 3953 applications are incomplete for processing and decision-making.

While processing applications, TSLS noted a few challenges, ranging from applicants uploading incorrect offer letters and documents not construed as offer letters, mismatching the choice of programmes on the TSLS online portal and tertiary education provider offer letters, providing incorrect personal details, providing self-statutory declarations where parents or guardians statutory declarations are required, and not providing their personal banking details.

TSLS reminds applicants that scholarships are only available for programmes that are part of the national priority areas.

Students who have received the scholarship offer are advised to firm up their decision to accept, reject, or change the sponsorship programme.

Tertiary education providers are also reminded to inform students, correctly advise about scholarships, and refer to the readily available TSLS community awareness handbook for reference.
