Tsunami Sirens To Be Tested Next Tuesday, No Need To Evacuate
A live test of all tsunami sirens will take place on February 5, 2019 at 10am. Evacuation will not be required.

The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) in collaboration with the Seismology Unit of the Department of Mineral Resources will be conducting a live test of all the tsunami sirens on the 5th of February at 1000hrs.
This test is part of Government’s commitment towards improving its state of readiness for any tsunami event and also to ensure that the sirens are in working condition. The Tsunami sirens are currently installed in the following locations:
Water Authority of Fiji – Kinoya Sewerage Plant

The NDMO wishes to advise the general public that evacuation will NOT be required.
However communities and businesses living along the Suva peninsula and foreshore are urged to use this exercise to identify and test their evacuation procedures in terms of their designated safe route and safe assembly areas/zones. In addition, to this it is equally importantly for the public to get acquainted with the sound of the tsunami early warning sirens.
