Tu Kini Cama Passes on After Illness

Mr Cama was a popular member of the broadcast industry, hosting morning shows and other programmes.

Family and friends are saddened by the passing of former radio announcer, Ratu Kinijoji Cama, who was commonly known as Tu Kini Cama.

He died at the Wainibokasi Hospital on Sunday, February 18 after suffering from a short illness.

Mr Cama started his career at the Westpac Bank before joining FM96, where he made a name for himself.

Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua, while reminiscing on the good days, said Tu Kini was one of those people who had that gift of the gab.

“We worked together around 1993-1994, when I joined CFL, I was a part timer, he was already working full time by then, I got on to the breakfast show with Raymond Baselala and Akuila Qumi,” she said.

Ms Qereqeretabua said it was sad to hear the passing of a gifted man.

“I speak on behalf of the FM96 family from the 1990s and 2000s that we are sad to hear the passing of Tu Kini; may his soul rest in peace,” she said.

Mr Cama was host of the Current Affairs segment on Mai TV.

He is the son of the late Filise Cama and Ro Miriama Cama.

He is survived by his sister, nieces, nephews and grandnieces.

A homecoming service will be held on Saturday, February 24 at the Saint Vincent de Paul Parish in Nausori at 10am.

He will be buried at his mother’s village in Vuci, Tokatoka, Tailevu.
