Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu is ready to vacate his position if there’s even a shred of allegation linked to him.

“I have said that, and I have said it already, if there is a link, you are out. If there is a link of allegation to me, I am out. I will clear the office,” he said.

Several Police officers, some of whom are high ranking, including the commissioner, are named in allegations of corruption associated with drug-related networks, circulating on social media.

These allegations are under investigation.

Mr Tudravu said the police would not stop until the truth was revealed.

“Investigation will be done. There is nothing to hide,” he said.

“We are going for the truth. This is very important for us because it is affecting the morale of the Police officers.”

The commissioner said his intent coming into the office was to provide stability and growth for the institution.

“The organisation has suffered a lot. Suffered much a decade ago,” Mr Tudravu said.

“That is why I will not just send people out just because of a Viber message.

“Gone are the days of the buzzword 55, but if they have evidence, well and good.”

Mr Tudravu reiterated that officers would be sent home if investigations prove their involvement.
