The Tui Vuda, Ratu Eparama Tavaiqia (with garland), at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Nadi
The Tui Vuda, Ratu Eparama Tavaiqia, celebrated his 94th birthday at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi on Wednesday.
The traditional leaders of Vuda, members of chiefly families and Viseisei villagers celebrated with him at the resort. This is the 14th year of Tui Vuda’s leadership in his vanua.
He said he was blessed to live this far.

“I thank God for giving me life that I can be here and celebrate my birthday with you today (Wednesday). I am grateful for the leadership and the guidance that at this age I can still lead my vanua,” he said.
“Thank you all for the love and the support you have shown me.”
His spokesperson Ratu Meli Tora said the Tui Vuda was the only eldest iTaukei paramount chief who’s alive.
“May God continue to bless his life, his leadership and his vanua,” Ratu Meli said.
