Tuiloma Bestowed with Baton of Honour

Receiving the baton of honour award, school head boy Tevita Tuiloma said the cadet parade was quite a significant one after a lapse of three years.

After a lapse five years, Lomary Secondary School in Serua conducted its passing-out parade again.

With a strength of 268 cadets, the parade, witnessed by students, parents, old scholars and teachers on Friday, displayed a remarkable attitude of compliance and discipline.

Chief guest, and Minister of Education Aseri Radrodro reminded students of the importance of incorporating discipline in their daily lives.

Mr Radrodro said cadet training was essential for their personal development and most successful people in life exerted discipline on a daily basis.

“Discipline must not only be observed during the Barrack Week, but one that should be lived out throughout your lives,” Mr Radrodro said.

“Cadet training often emphasises leadership and management, will help students develop skills that are valuable in any career this includes decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to inspire and guide others.”

Receiving the baton of honour award, school head boy Tevita Tuiloma said the cadet parade was quite a significant one after a lapse of three years.

“The school was on one accord to bring its rich history of how cadet training played a significant role in every student’s journey,” he said.

Tuiloma, who aspires to be a geospatial expert, said cadet programme made an impact, especially in steering discipline in students’ behaviour.

“With the rise in social issues within school compounds, I believe this programmes will enlighten the mindset of young individuals to push through the barriers of peer pressure,” Tuiloma said.

“I thank the school management for coming up with this initiative to help us young individual navigate our way to success.”

The young lad from Naitutu, Tailevu hopes that youths will make wise decisions within their communities.

Tuiloma said society nowadays was no longer safe for youths to make bad decisions.
