Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga is calling on parents to register their children at the Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) Registry before school starts next year.
He was in Bua on Wednesday and Thursday launching BDM services at the Post Fiji Shop at Kubulau, Wainunu, Lekutu and Nabouwalu.
"Every child born on this earth comes from a family, a mother and a father," Mr Turaga said.

"Parents need to be responsible and get their child officially registered."
He said one of the reasons the ministry changed its approach by choosing decentralisation of services was to make things easy for people.

"Why we want registration of children to be done so that it terms of policy-making, Government will be fully aware of the number of people it has, the age and only then it can be in a position to do better planning," he said.
He said now that the service was available on their doorsteps, people of Bua do not need to travel to Savusavu or Labasa to access BDM services.
