Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses will soon be available at Adi Maopa Secondary School in Vanuabalavu, Lau.
This was announced by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, during his recent visit to schools on Vanuabalavu last weekend.
This initiative will provide new opportunities for students in Vanuabalavu, Mr Radrodro said.

The visit marked the first time in a long while that a Minister for Education visited the island, village leaders and community members.
The islanders thanked the minister for remembering them.
Mr Radrodro emphasised the importance of community support for teachers and active parental involvement in their children’s education.
“Parents should not only ensure their children attend school, but should also be actively engaged in their learning as they are their children’s first teachers at home,” he said.
The minister’s focus was on discussing literacy, numeracy, and exam pass rates with parents and teachers.
Mr Radrodro assured them of the ministry’s commitment to providing ongoing assistance.
He handed over library resources, including books, shelves, tables, and chairs, to the schools, aiming to enhance the learning environment for students.
The visit also highlighted the challenges faced by maritime schools, such as isolation, rural-urban migration, and decreasing school rolls.
Throughout the visit, school communities were given the opportunity to engage with various government departments, including BSP Life, the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry, Legal Aid Commission, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, and the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.
This allowed them to raise concerns and make requests, underscoring Government’s commitment to ensuring all students, regardless of their location, have access to quality education.
