Two in critical condition after head-on crash near Lami

Police say the driver, a 31‑year‑old Navua man, allegedly crossed a double solid line while overtaking and crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

Two people are in critical condition at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital after a head-on collision along Queens Road at Wainigasau near Lami, last night.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a 31-year-old Navua Town man, with a passenger, was driving towards Suva when he allegedly crossed a double solid line to overtake and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

"The suspect and his passenger sustained serious injuries and are currently in critical condition whereas the occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries," Ms Naisoro said.

All those involved were first taken to Lami Health Centre before being transferred to CWM Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
