Two Men Die In Separate Cases Of Drowning In The West

Two men allegedly drowned in separate incidents reported to Police in the last 48hours.

The first report was received from Togovere, Tavua involving a 52year old villager who was earlier reported missing.

The victim had on Friday morning left to collect sand, but failed to return home.

Villagers and Police conducted a search whereby the victim's body was found floating a few meters from shore.

A post mortem will be conducted to ascertain cause of death.

In the second incident reported yesterday, the body of a 61year old caretaker from Teidamu was recovered from the Teidamu Creek, Lautoka.

Circumstances surrounding his death is being investigated and a post mortem will be conducted to establish cause of death.

Investigation continues into both cases.

The national drowning death toll currently stands at 6 compared to 9 for the same period last year.
