Two more parcels confirmed to contain cocaine have been discovered, with police reporting the latest finds in Lau and Qamea last week.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the parcels were found on August 14 and 15 and were subsequently uplifted and taken to the Fiji Police Forensics Laboratory for analysis.

Laboratory tests confirmed that both parcels contained cocaine.

ACP Vusonilawe also confirmed that another suspicious parcel was reported today after it washed ashore along a coastal area on Koro Island.

The parcel is expected to be uplifted and transported to Suva for forensic testing to determine its contents.

He commended members of the public for their prompt reporting of the discoveries, saying this enabled police to quickly deploy officers to recover the substances and have them tested.

ACP Vusonilawe urged members of the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious parcels to police.

He reminded the public not to open, touch or handle any suspicious packages and to contact police on 1681 if such items are found.

Police investigations into the discoveries are continuing.
