Two more employees of Post Fiji Limited were terminated last Friday for allegedly facilitating an unauthorised allowance paid to its former chief executive officer (CEO).

An independent investigation was conducted on a whistleblower’s allegation against a $15,000 payment to its former CEO.

Post Fiji’s head of Retail and Marketing, Dharmend Chand, and payroll officer, Reshma Prasad, were found to have breached the company’s code of ethics and business conduct by its independent disciplinary committee.

The whistleblower alleged that the former CEO was not supposed to receive $15,000 from the company as relocation allowance, when he moved from Australia to Fiji to assume the post in 2019.

In a series of letters obtained by the Fiji Sun, the committee deliberated on the case on August 10, 2023, after a thorough audit of the relevant documents.

It includes the payment voucher, CEO’s employment contract and other correspondences related to the investigation.

Post Fiji’s former board chairman, Lawrence Tikaram, did not give proper approval for the payment. He confirmed that the payment was supposed to be only for the exit of the contract.

During the audit, the committee found that the CEO was not eligible for the allowance as he was employed by another company when he applied for the job.

Isaac Mow, who acts as Post Fiji CEO, served the letter on August 29, and the financiers have seven days to appeal.

Consequently, the committee decides that you be summarily dismissed, Mr Mow wrote in the letter, which was hand delivered.
