University of Fiji assistant lecturer Parvin Lata, of Labasa, is now the owner of a brand new Toyota Hilux worth $80,000.

The 40-year, who teaches Hindi Language and Indian Culture at the University of Fiji in Saweni, Lautoka, said: “I wasn’t expecting to win because these kinds of promotions run every time and every time I participate, I never win.”

Ms Lata says she will keep the vehicle as another addition to the existing family vehicle.

Trustee of Friendly North Festival Hazeem Hussein said the Vodafone festival promotion has been running for more than 10 years and has helped raise funds to benefit projects and outreach programmes for the communities in Labasa.

“It is through these promotions and festivals that we are able to do so many projects,” he said.

The handover was done at the Carpenters Motors showroom in Walu Bay, Suva, on Tuesday.
