Unsolved Jiya Jaanvi Murder Case Still Open: Fiji Police
The unsolved murder case of a 14-year-old student in Labasa on July 22, 2020 is still open. This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro yesterday.

The unsolved murder case of a 14-year-old student in Labasa on July 22, 2020 is still open.
This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro yesterday.
Although the case remains unsolved for one year and five months, the deceased’s mother, Rohini Lal has not given up hope.

“Jiya Jaanvi, was my only child and the grief and heartache following her death has changed me a lot,” Ms Lal said.
“I am searching for answers and will not give up.”
She said two weeks ago she called up the Police and was told that the file was sent to headquarters for an update.
Because of the tragic death and rumours surrounding the incident about the perpetrator freely moving around, Ms Lal said she had to leave Labasa.
“I as a mother choose not to be quiet and fight for justice even if it takes more time.”
Jaanvi was alone in the rented flat in Namara, Labasa while her mother was at work when the incident happened.
The Year Nine student of Labasa College was discovered with clothes soaked in blood at the door of the house by their landlord around 8pm.
