The Ministry for Education Heritage and Arts will be launching new modes of communication - a new network platform and a helpline in the coming weeks.

Minister for Education Heritage and Arts Premila Kumar revealed this during the teacher cluster meeting at the Namaka Public School on Tuesday.

Ms Kumar said these two platforms were part of the changes introduced and would be easily accessible by the teachers nationwide to clear their issues or grievances within the ministry.

“We want to hear from our teachers. You have the voice to do that, so you use it to bring to our attention and the ministry,” she said.

She also said the newly introduced feature - the network platform, would not only create a two-way communication between the teachers and Ministry of Education, but also among teachers.

“The platform is purely for professional use. For example, if you want to share notes, share lesson plans, share ideas, and give suggestions to the Ministry of Education you may do so,” she said.

Furthermore, the ministry would also launch a teacher helpline dedicated for the 13,000 teachers instead of calling the individual staff at the Ministry of Education, particularly in the human resource (HR) section.

According to Ms Kumar personnel would be on the phone full time, recording the complaints lodged, until the case is sorted.

“This will replace the frustration after details and evidence given is not there,” she said.
