International travel restrictions and  the spike in the cost of hiring a venue have hindered the University of the South Pacific’s (USP) anticipation of holding its September graduation this year.

USP’s Vice-Chancellor and president, Professor Pal Ahluwalia, said arrangements for the graduation venue were usually finalised earlier, however with COVID-19, this was not possible.

“We have also cancelled our regional graduation for the same reason that we cannot travel,” he said.

Professor Ahluwalia said the university will be holding a small ceremony of less than 100 guests for its gold medalists and high performing students.
