USPSA President Suspended

The president of the University of the South Pacific Student Association (USPSA) Laucala Campus, Morris Polyn has been suspended for one month over some undisclosed allegations.
Mr Polyn who is from the Solomon Islands claimed that his office was undermined by the USPSA Federal body over an issue that could have been dealt with within the association.
He alleged that there was interference in the Indo-Fijian students’ association election where the president only selected students who he was in favor of to be in his team.

He said there were many leaks within his office that resulted in the swift actions of the USPSA Federal body.
“When I called the meeting today (Thursday), unfortunately, there was a tip because there’s a lot of leaks in my office. They already drafted a letter and leveled all the allegations against me.
“There were 30 student representatives seated at the meeting place. The USP federal showed up at my office with the security to ask me to open my suspension letter.”
Mr Polyn said the federal members were an unelected group that did not have the power to suspend him.
An email by the acting president of the USPSA Laucala office, Robea Koran, was sent to all students which stated that there was an investigation by the USPSA Laucala Disciplinary Committee and the USPSA Disciplinary Committee (Federal). The USPSA Federal office have chosen not to comment on the matter.
The USPSA Federal body oversees 14 Student Associations in the 12 Member Countries.
USPSA Laucala is the regional campus student association.
