Vatukoula man killed in Tavua crash

A 24-year-old man from Vatukoula has become the country’s latest road fatality victim following a tragic accident in Toko, Tavua early this morning.

The victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man, who allegedly lost control of the car shortly after 1am.

According to police, the vehicle veered off the road, resulting in serious injuries to both occupants.

They were rushed to Tavua Hospital, where the 24-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver remains admitted as police investigations continue.

The national road death toll now stands at 65, compared to 51 for the same period last year.
