Vela sets career path in male-dominated trade
The 30-year-old mother of two children is originally from Vuniwai Village, Seaqaqa, Macuata, received a National Certificate in Automotive Electrical and Electronics Level Three.

Kelera Vela has proven that women can rise beyond the male gendered occupations during the Pacific Polytech graduation at Kshatriya Hall in Labasa yesterday.
The former firefighter volunteer for seven years, having served at National Fire Authority stations in Taveuni and Labasa was among 105 graduates.
The 30-year-old mother of two children is originally from Vuniwai Village, Seaqaqa, Macuata, received a National Certificate in Automotive Electrical and Electronics Level Three.

"Female electricians can do equally well as male and I want to be one of them," Ms Vela said.
"After completing Year 13 at All Saints Secondary School in Labasa I became a fire fighter volunteer and then stayed home to look after my children who are now aged three and nine."
She thanked her husband, Salato Ramoce, an employee of Bula Earthworks for giving her the opportunity to go back.
"It wasn't easy holding numerous hats of a mother, wife and student but I managed through the support of my husband and trainers," she said.
"When we have understanding trainers enabling the learning environment to be conductive any student will feel like to complete his or her education."
She calls on women to pursue their career of choice despite male dominance in trade occupations.
