Vetaia Remanded for Police Assault

The case has been transferred to the High Court in Suva for January 22.

A 27-year-old Lami man who allegedly struck a Police officer twice with a cane knife was remanded by the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Vetaia Nacagica, unemployed, is charged with two counts of act with intent to cause serious bodily harm and one count of serious assault.

Nacagica allegedly committed the act on New Year’s Day. He fled from the scene and was arrested three days later.

In court he asked for legal representation.

He appeared before Magistrate Seini Puamau.

The case was transferred to the High Court in Suva to January 22 for mention.
