Following Fiji Sun’s expose’ that a Viber community had been created where nude images and videos of local women were traded, Viber took action.

Viber’s Product Marketing Director Matan Kaufman yesterday said: “We’ve read your article on the Fiji Sun about a Community on Viber that’s violating our community rules.

“Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Keeping Viber safe and free of violent or harmful content is one of our top missions, and we invest heavily in making that happen. We have taken the necessary steps to block and remove the suspicious communities and their owners from Viber,” he said.

People have been urged to report such communities and groups through the report feature on the app.

The community which has since been taken down had men sharing nude images of their partners and former partners and sold their contact details for $10.

Hundreds of nude images and videos were shared on the community when Fiji Sun exposed it.
