We will take your requests and concerns, but remember development projects takes time.

That was the assurance Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka gave to Koronatoga villagers gathered at Vunidawa Primary School, Cakaudrove Province.

He told them there were different ministries looked after by different ministers and they needed to be updated of these projects.

“We have the Commissioner Northern, provincial administrator of Cakaudrove and Government reps from various departments who will take note of your concerns, issues and requests and then provide information to the respective ministries to look into it,” Mr Rabuka said.

“We are here to listen to you, and some projects will take about a year or two or maybe more, but we will try to get it done.”

Request for sea wall

Koronatoga Village headman Sekove Erebola said to due to climate change, during big high tides or heavy rain, the water would enter about five houses in the village.

He explained these houses were located beside the road next to the sea.

“These families are poor and relocating at this time is not an option since their children are attending Vunidawa Primary School,” Mr Erebola said.

“We also request for a road hump at the entrance of the school as motorists speed on our roads posing risk to our children and causing lot of dusts to enter the houses.”

There are 56 houses with a total population of 392.

Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima assured him that they would look into this.
